One of the most modern centers of excellence in driving technique in Europe with asphalt and off-road tracks and state-of-the-art infrastructure can go down in history. The huge investment of Tomasz Kuchar, multiple winner of the Polish car rallycross championship, could be destroyed (along with three other businesses in the immediate vicinity) to gain space to run a new high-speed railway line ( HSR) to the central communications port (CPK) provided.

A blow for drivers
This is a blow not only for the rally driver and local investors, but also for road safety improvement projects in Poland and the necessary training of drivers and candidates. It is no secret that in terms of road safety, we have been at the bottom of the European scale for many years (only Bulgaria and Romania are ahead of us in the European statistics for road fatalities). Much is still lacking in the current system of training candidates for driving licenses. In the Polish education system, the key is to prepare for the exam, instead of teaching drivers the main driving habits on roads of different categories (not just city streets with many equal intersections) and manage stress in order to cope with difficult situations. In an interview with Auto Świat, Tomasz Kuchar stresses that as an aviation enthusiast he is realistic and supports the need to build STH – “I am a supporter of the central communication port. Although it is not necessary now , but in 10-15 years it will be necessary when normal pre-pandemic air traffic returns”. He is also aware that “for the general public, it is not important what Driveland will look like. The center plays an important social role, however, in particular by examining the tragic statistics of accidents, deaths and injuries on Polish roads. “.

They are not only the drivers of the biggest fleets, but also individual students improving their qualifications. “It is significant that people generally react with a laugh when they are about to enter the skid plate at a speed of 35 km / h. They are not aware that the seemingly low speed can be a huge challenge for the driver. We are used to modern, well-equipped and soundproof cars, the high speed of which we do not feel. In the meantime, the first attempts on the album are a nice verification of skills, which generally differ significantly from our expectations After all, there is reflection and humility “- adds Kuchar. It is not difficult to realize that the same is true with crash tests, which are carried out at speeds far lower than those we achieve on the roads on a daily basis.
Tomasz Kuchar confesses that he had reported the problem with the location of the railway line for two years (he bought the property himself after a long search in 2015 and ran his business for 3 years without being in the know). current STH-related plans) – “The route of the railway line can be moved just 150 meters to the adjacent wasteland or to use the existing tracks nearby on which the Pendolino trains regularly run. I call for a compromise. You don’t have to upset the country when you’re carrying large investments.”
