And Alicante is a leader among leaders – no less than 68 flags fly on the beaches of the Costa Blanca. The Levante area is the best beach in the world, one of the best in the world. One of them is San Juan beach in Alicante, five kilometers of white sand. Family run, very safe, with calm and very clear waters. And also Cala del Moraig (Benitachell) – this bay is considered one of the most beautiful in Spain, it is located between impressive cliffs and attracts with the turquoise shade of the water, perfect for diving enthusiasts.
The beauty of nature on the Costa Blanka is confirmed by the multitude of reserves, the only one of which is the Marina de Tabarca covering the islands of Tabarca, enchanting with lush dune vegetation and numerous bird breeding sites. And also the charismatic rock Penon de Ifach, often called “Little Giblaltar”. Located in the municipality of Calpe on an area of 42 hectares and surrounded by aromatic plants, thyme, rosemary and wild sage. It is considered the smallest nature reserve in Spain – it is 332 m high – the solitary limestone rock of the Costa Blanca is a symbol of the city of Calpe.
Art, also culinary
Alicante will also delight art lovers, as it is literally at your fingertips here. There are exceptional art galleries in the area, such as Mubag, which collects paintings by Spanish artists from the 16th to 19th centuries, or MACA, which has an extensive collection of works by some of the most influential artists of the 20th century century, such as Picasso and Joan Miro. The historic towns and villages of the Costa Blanca have old towns designed by the Arabs during their rule over the peninsula in the Middle Ages. Palaces, forts, castles, churches, basilicas, cathedrals, mansions make a walk through the streets turns into a walk through history.
Foodies will love Alicante – it’s one of the regions with the most Michelin stars in all of Spain – it has up to 11, spread across the province: from Elche, through the capital Alicante, La Nucía, Calpe (3), Javea (2), Denia, Ondar and on the mainland, Alcoi. No wonder the food in the area is of the highest quality. Indeed, the province of Alicante has large fishing ports and fish markets, fruit and vegetables (including rice in many varieties) are also grown there and excellent wines are produced – a wide range of white, red and rosé varieties, as well as sweet wines, liqueurs, sparkling wines and fondillon. All this thanks to the fact that the variety of climates in this region has given rise to very different types of grapes, such as Muscat, Monastrell or Grenache.
Perfect communication and security
What is extremely important is that the province of Alicante is perfectly connected to Poland. So the decision to spend time at home in Spain can be made literally overnight. You can choose between a plane (Elche-Alicante airport is the fifth largest airport in Spain in terms of number of passengers), a car (Spain has an excellent motorway network) or the train. Alicante train station is right in the center of the city with direct connections to Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao, Santander, Oviedo, etc., and the AVE (high speed train) from Madrid in 2 hours and 15 minutes travels more than 400 kilometers.
We also don’t have to fear for our safety – in any respect. A report on global public order by the American company Gallup confirms that Spain is one of the safest countries in the world and that the number of crimes is lower than the European Union average. The Spanish public system, on the other hand, guarantees all citizens equal access to basic public services such as education and health. It should be noted that the Bloomberg 2018 annual report ranked Spain’s healthcare system third in the world after Hong Kong and Singapore, and ranked it as the most efficient in Europe. In addition, foreigners have a protected status, guaranteed by the Spanish constitution, in art. 13, “foreigners in Spain will enjoy the public freedoms guaranteed by this document, under the conditions established by treaties and law”.
Comfortable real estate purchase
Security also includes the purchase of real estate in Spain. All activities are governed by law, the notary is responsible for confirming the identity and legal capacity of those concerned. In addition, in Spain there is a Land Registry which offers legal protection to the person who buys the property, provided that a notarial deed has been formalized. The Notary Public and the Land Registry have a special communication system that prevents errors in the transfer of ownership, which is a guarantee for each purchase transaction made.
Buying a home is a big investment, not only for financial reasons, but also because the property has to suit the buyer in every way. That is why it is worth taking a quiet look around the region of interest to us. You can choose houses on the secondary market, but there is also an option to buy a house in new construction – much easier to implement and generating better prospects from an investment point of view.

Buying real estate step by step
Buying a property in Spain does not differ much from the Polish procedures to be followed in such cases. Before starting the process, it’s a good idea to complete some formalities – getting a NIE number, opening a bank account and familiarizing yourself with the Spanish mortgage finance system.
You should NOT apply for a number through an Embassy or Consulate, or in Spain from the National Police Department or Immigration Office. It is also recommended to open an account with a bank based in Spain, as this will be necessary when you own a house to make payments (local taxes, rent, water, electricity, etc.).
The very purchase of an apartment from a developer begins with the signing of a preliminary contract (purchase and sale) between the client and the construction company. A deposit of 3,000 to 6,000 euros is then paid, which guarantees the reservation of the object. The preliminary agreement also specifies the date of payment of the own share (30-40%) to the account of the development company. The contract for the purchase of real estate is drawn up in the form of a notarial deed, otherwise null and void. The date of the visit to the notary to sign a notarial deed depends on the date of the given investment and the handing over of the keys.
When the keys are handed over and the notarial deed is signed, a possible mortgage loan is also released. It is important to note that money for buying real estate does not need to be transferred from a Polish bank, it can come from other global banks.
Once we have become property owners, be aware that all foreigners living in Spain, and therefore on the Costa Blanca for more than three months, must register. This facilitates access to public services and health care.
